Hey, Guys, my name is Trek!
I’m a shepherd mix – probably a mix of German Shepherd and Rottweiler, but since I was found wandering, no one really knows.
And, yes, the rumors are true. I was caught in a coyote trap. Twice. That’s why I have a scar on my foot. It was a pretty bad wound, but TARA got me all fixed up. Don’t judge about getting caught. I was in the woods on my own, and there was some super tasty food in the trap.
I think I’m about a two years old, but I don’t remember being a puppy, so I’m not sure.
Because I was on my own for so long, I really like to stick close to my chosen human – you know, the one that feeds me. Foster mommy calls it “bonding.” All I know is that wherever mom goes, so does Trek. That’s me.
Did TARA tell you I’m also super smart? I figured out how to use the doggie door in just 30 minutes! And I have a fantastic SIT! Food is a good motivator, but I’m super responsive to positive reinforcement. I go potty outside without having to be told, and I have good house manners. I do not, however, understand the concept of personal space. Oh – that reminds me of trying to climb into mommy’s lap in the car. I LOVE car rides, but mommy says I need to sit in the back seat so I don’t kill us both by shifting gears.
I don’t love being in the crate. Don’t leave anything fabric near my crate. I will drag it in and destroy it. I can’t help it; I get bored. I miss my humans while I’m in the crate.
My favorite thing is hugging my person. Oh, and putting my head on their shoulder. Oh, and getting pets. Treats are cool, but shows of affection are better.
I like kids – just ask any of the child-volunteers here at TARA. They all walk me with no problem. Other dogs are ok, but I’m really all about the humans. I do play with my foster-sister, a 100-pound Rottweiler.
I don’t really know what to make of cats. I know I like to chase them – so my foster mommy says I probably shouldn’t have any cat friends because they don’t like to be chased. Like she knows. Maybe they like to be chased.
My perfect family would have a fenced backyard big enough for me to do zoomies in – I love zoomies.
So, if you are interested in the best, coolest dog ever, have your people call my people.
Love, Trek
