Foster-based. All-volunteer. Serving Cumberland, Hoke & Moore counties, NC.

Contact TARA Rescue

We’re a small, all-volunteer, foster-based rescue. The fastest way to reach us is usually through our Facebook page. Email works, but it just may be a little slower when life and animals get wild.

Before you reach out, please take a quick look at the information below, especially if you’re asking about adopting, rehoming a pet, or a found animal.

How to Reach Us

We do not have a public shelter building you can visit. All animals are in foster homes. The best way to contact us is via Facebook, with email as a good backup for detailed questions or documents.

Best Method: Facebook

Message Us on Facebook — Fastest Response
facebook.com/TARArescue

Our volunteers monitor Facebook more often throughout the day, especially during events, emergencies, and high-intake periods. If you need to reach a real human, this is usually the quickest way.

Email & Mailing Address

Email: info@tararescue.org

Mailing address:

Tilted Acres Rescue & Adoptions (TARA Rescue)
PO Box 711
Raeford, NC 28376

Email is great for applications, vet records, or longer questions. Response times may vary depending on how many animals we’re juggling.

Adoption Events

You can usually find us at:

PetSmart (Skibo Rd.)
Most Saturdays — 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM
Dogs and cats are there at the same time. Other times by appointment.

Please check our Facebook or Instagram for schedule updates, weather changes, or special adoption events.

Before You Contact Us

We want to help when we can, but we also want to be honest about what we do and what we can’t do. These quick guides can help you get the right kind of help faster.

Questions About Adopting

  • For details about our adoption process, fees, and what’s included, please visit our Adopt page first.
  • If you are interested in a specific animal, please include their name in your message so we know who you’re asking about.
  • We do same-day adoptions when everything lines up (application, interview, and a good match), but it’s never guaranteed.

Needing to Rehome or Surrender a Pet

  • We are a foster-based rescue with limited space. We cannot guarantee intake for every animal, but we do review requests as we are able.
  • When you message or email, please include photos, age, breed (if known), basic behavior notes, and any medical information you have.
  • If we cannot take the animal directly, we may be able to offer resources or guidance to help you rehome safely.

Found, Stray, or Injured Animals

  • TARA Rescue is not animal control and does not provide emergency pick-up services.
  • For injured animals, please contact a local veterinary clinic or emergency veterinary hospital immediately.
  • For stray, lost, or dangerous animals, please contact your local animal control or law enforcement so the animal can be documented and safely handled.
  • You’re welcome to message or email us as well, especially if you’re willing to foster, but there is no guarantee of intake.

Send Us an Email

Prefer email over Facebook? No problem. Use the form below to start a conversation. Because we’re volunteer-run, response times can vary, but we do our best to reply as quickly as possible.

If the form doesn’t work with your device or email program, you can always email us directly at info@tararescue.org or message us on Facebook, which is often the fastest.
